“Shanel” – written and performed by Taylor Bonds

The Power of Friendship-
A lot of focus is placed on the gifts inclusive friendships offer the individual with a disability.  Taylor wrote this song in honor of Shanel, one of her best friends in high school who has Down syndrome.  The sentiment shared in the lyrics highlight the gifts that Shanel in turn brought to Taylor’s life.  The memories of their friendship are also displayed through the pictures accompanying this beautiful song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjxkpXZKnP8

Shanel’s Awesome Life

Shanel is a self advocate who enjoys telling her story to help dispel anyone’s preconceived notion that her life has been anything less than awesome!  As 27-year-old woman with Down syndrome Shanel has had her fair share of challenges, but that has not, nor will it, stop her from living the life of her dreams. http://collaborateadvocatenavigate.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Shanels-Awesome-Life.pptx
